Being a symbol of the four ends of the earth, of the entire Universe consolidated internally by divine power, the cross is as if "sprouted" from lilies, as a sign of purification and transfiguration. Each of its crossbars is decorated with buds symbolizing the Garden of Eden. This is a symbol of the world that has been cleansed of all kinds of evil, death and animosity, similar to the New Jerusalem; of the world in which Love, Beauty and the Light of the Gospel reign; of the world that opens to a person through baptism.
On the obverse of the cross the name of Christ "ИС ХС" is engraved. The "King of glory" is at the top, while at the bottom there is "НИКА", which means "I have conquered", since the Lord defeated death with the Cross and opened the door of the New Jerusalem to men. But only the righteous can enter it. However, hope in God's eternal mercy is why the parable is written on the reverse of the cross: "Lord, have mercy on me!".
Cross in the shape of a radiant lily; in the Gospel it is said that Christ indicated lilies as perfectly beautiful flowers. They were lilies that He indicated as an example for those people who, worried about earthly well-being, forgot God. "The lilies do not care about their clothes, - said the Lord, - even if they are dressed better than King Solomon, it is God who dresses them so well". Thus a person who dresses in humility and conquers spiritual purity and love will receive everything from Him.
The lily resembles the Holy Trinity, and this is why in ancient times it was said that the archangel Gabriel presented himself to the Virgin Mary with a lily in his hand to announce the future birth of the divine Son. The lily is also the symbol of purification through baptism and is often part of ancient ornaments.
