Early Christian bronze cross
Cross to hang in bronze with fired enamel.
Bronze cross with high-fire enamel, to hang. Measures 13X16 cm.
This wall cross is a representation of early Christian art in bronze. In the centre, chrism, a precious symbol for the first Christians, illustrates the roots of the Christian faith with the Greek letters Khi (Χ) and Rhô (Ρ), the initials of Christ. The Latin shape of the cross, with the lower upright longer than the others, and the patté style, characterized by the slightly widened ends of the arms, give it an elegant and imposing presence. The hand-made enamelled cabochons and geometric designs in high-fire enamel are a guarantee of authenticity and respect for the ancient artisan tradition.
